Pierrot Lunaire - Turn Back the Hands of Time
Georgia cassette gardeners Hooker Vision once aptly compared tape releases to candy. And if we are following that simile, then the mysterious Pierrot Lunaire’s new tape is akin to an AirHead: it’s stretchy and colorful and sticks with you long after you’ve finished it. Metaphorical stretches aside, Turn Back the Hands of Time features two sides of total sonic weirdness - otherworldly tapeloops that sound like they are communicating through broken satellite dishes and extended bursts of noisy saxophone soloing. All the pieces combine effortlessly to form a totally concise and singular whole. In other words, chew on this one until your teeth rot.
