Belong – Common Era

Belong – Common Era

Here’s one of my most highly anticipated releases of the year and without a doubt one of my favorites so far. It’s the second full-length album from Belong, one of the world’s most revered blown-out drone acts, and it finds them switching up their game completely. The reverb-soaked haze from their ambient classics October Language and the Colorless Record EP are unmistakably present- only this time, these characteristics are buried in drum-machine-built Krautrock-influenced shoe-gaze anthems. Despite the minimalistic approach, the whole record has got an amazingly cinematic scope to it – a whole world is built in these nine songs and not a second of time is wasted. It’s seriously one of the most unified and powerful records I’ve heard in ages. Enormous recommendation.
