STRNGLV – Pyschotropia

Pyshcotropia is the accurately titled and fascinatingly all-over-the-place debut from a sound collage artist whose monicker is actually pronounced “Strange Love.” Don’t let the missing vowels fool you though – STRNGLV is not interested in following any current trends in the music world. There is no “chillwave” or “witch haus” or any gimmicky genre-creation at play here. It’s all just the kind of dirty, surreal, and noisy ambient music that can only come from New Jersey. The “tropia,” then, comes from several moments of bright, sunny synth play throughout the tape with interesting percussion sections thrown in. Awesome stuff, keep an eye on this dude.

Purchase.

  2. […] Reviews of FAB004 STRNGLV Psychotropia C-30 “We received a nice little package in the mail from Brooklyn’s Fabrica Records, a relatively new label we’d never heard of before. Familiar or not, these guys are delivering the goods on tape in a big way. STRNGLV’s “Psychotropia” is a clouded journey through jungle psychedlics and distant tribal rituals. It’s getting hot as fuck around here already, so when the summer reaches full swelter, I’ll be blasting this one for maximum transport. It’s limited to a mere 50 copies for $5.50 each at Fabrica.” – OMG Vinyl “Pyshcotropia is the accurately titled and fascinatingly all-over-the-place debut from a sound collage artist whose monicker is actually pronounced “Strange Love.” Don’t let the missing vowels fool you though – STRNGLV is not interested in following any current trends in the music world.
